European University Association [meeting in Germany in Oct.'09]

Hello everyone,

the European University Association [EUA] is meeing in Giessen [Germany] coming Oct. (08-10) to discuss their plans on how to internationalize, liberalize and

Audience:

The conference should be of interest to institutional leaders (rectors, vice rectors and heads of administration) as well as other organisations involved in educational policy: social partners, employers and senior government officials.

(...)

EUA Mission:

(...)

Advocating these policies to decision makers at different levels and ensuring that the voice of universities is heard.

(...)

Let's make sure, that this voice is heard!! Because they forgot the largest part that makes up the University: the STUDENTS!

Whose education? Our education!!

Activists in Giessen are currently preparing protest actions as part of this event.

Since it is very unlikely that the student voice can be carried to Giessen from other countries physically, we appeal to all groups to send us:

  • letters of support in our protest for free and emancipatory public education!
  • send us slogans in different languages used by education movements in different countries in "their" language.

The slogans will be written on banners during the protest and the letters published publicly to show that we are not alone in Germany, but that students across Europe are involved in the same struggle!!!
You can either post them here inside the forum or send them directly to: united.for.education[at]gmail.com

United for Free and Emancipatory public education!

In Solidarity to struggling groups around the world,

Mo.
(part of the student representative body at the Philipps University of Marburg).
