Going to Louvain and Leuven
Hola compañer@s!
We the okupiers of the central building of the University of Barcelona are thinking of organising a trip to Louvain to clash with the Ministerial Bologna Conference on the 28th and 29th of April 2009. This could be the "grand finale" of the Global Week of Action where various students from the european movement get together fact-to-face to exchange experiences, to protest and to debate on what trype of university we really want. French students from Paris are visiting us here in Barcelona and are willing to join us in Louvain too, we are now trying to get in contact with students in Louvain to see if they can host us. Who else is willing to get together there during these dates? It is the last year before the Bologna process is completely consolidated, our time is now!
Hola!
which way are you goin`? takin`some hichhikers with ya?
:]
"...Louvain to clash with the Ministerial Bologna Conference on the 28th and 29th of April 2009..."
Mo? i´d like to start a forum entry with place for "kleinanzeigen" where pips can post whos goin' when and takin' which transport option. people may know some tips for pips who prefer trains, other may know about some cheap busses, other will have another ideas, maybe. i´d like to start this new new forum topic, but first i´d like to see if it´s needed --> maybe a place for even this would be ok right in here at exactly this page
and, i mean - it does not have only to be for south and western part of europe. it´s far away for some countries, but let´s see: maybe we hear from groups telling their stops where they can take hichhikers with them. or: telling the most recent rail price they might have found. or: telling their stop (zwischenstop) points in order to ride in as a convoy :] or whatever.
hm?
edit: (as answer to mo´s comment below): "ah, ok, then it´s more central in europe and getting cheaper as railway price for 'countries around'." i´ll try to get some 'news' if there are some links to post (everyone knows how to type in 'mitfahrzentrale' in google, but that´s boring. i believe the must be some more concrete possibilities) in the meantime.
European call against the Lisbon strategy; UNITE !!
hello all; julien from France : )
we are obviously backing the "global week of action" and the "call to Louvain" here; and i wanted to let you know that we even have a third european and international call coming from France that we are trying to associate with these first two for extra strenght:
we call for a european mobilization in march (18th to 20th) against the Lisbon strategy, the direct instigator of the Bologna process..
for a consecutive meeting in end of may in paris (right before the european elections), with
education organisations and unions from all over europe, to witness the situation in each country and to organize the next steps together,
and finally for a countersummit to the springsummit in Brussels 2010..
here's is the call in several languages:
http://groups.google.fr/group/collectif-printemps-2010/files?hl=fr
European call against the Lisbon strategy; UNITE !!
here's the proper call in english:
We do not want any “market of knowledge”!
Call for a European mobilisation against the Lisbon strategy
in higher education and research
The next spring summit of the heads of state and governments of the European union will take place on March 19th ‐ 20th, 2009.
One of its priorities will be the assessment of the Lisbon strategy initiated in 2000, which frames the policies currently engaged in the Member States so as to “modernise” the national research and education system (primary, secondary and higher education, lifelong learning).
The declared ambition of a “knowledge‐based society” should be encouraged, as far as it consists in a collective ambition to promote education and research as public goods, a guarantee of democratisation of access to knowledge, and allows citizens to perform a reasoned critical analysis of scientific and technical choices which are proposed to them.
But the current orientation is different, and reduces this prospect to the building of a “common market of knowledge” whose harmful influence can be observed everywhere, with consequences such as the weakening of the scientific independence, the disintegration of the public research system and the strengthening of the private sector, the increase of precarious conditions for workers and students, the deepening of inequalities in the access to knowledge and the increase of the disinvolvement of citizens in technical and scientific choices.
For a few years, large‐scale mobilisations of increasing intensity have been initiated by students, workers in education and research, and by social movements in general, all around Europe. These protests strongly express a demand for a public sector of education and research which would not be built without democratic debate, nor driven by the laws of the market.
That is why we call for a mobilisation of European citizens
on March 18th, 19th and 20th 2009 in every member state and beyond,
within universities, laboratories and in the streets,
AGAINST the marketisation of scientific and educative activities,
AGAINST the organized competition of people and territories,
FOR an emancipating and democratic public service of higher education and research.

@apk + Transportation issue
I think such details could also be discussed inside this forum topic.
Let's say: All those who want to propose an affordable way on how to get to Louvain and Leuven, are willing to pick up people on the way or are looking for somebody to pick them up, or anything related to transportation for the trip to Belgium, just hit the REPLY button to this comment and leave your statement ;)
call to louvain
here you can find the call to go to louvain in various languages:
http://www.vagueeuropeenne.fr/?lang=en
We have not decide on the details of transportation yet though we are thinking of renting some buses from Barcelona to go. We could pick up people from the south and middle of France on our way maybe.
@interuni
great.
people in south/middle france will only need the (as ~exact as possible) time in order to know where stand and to wait for you - they will be patient, all of them, but they will need the time. as soon as you know the details, i´m sure you´ll post it here.
people from south/middle france: which main street you´re able to reach? city points better? interuni - some details already, which tour? you´ll cross some cities?
?
guys when we arrive there, if we are going to protest for two days, what are the arrangements for acommodation? will there be a camping site, or will we stay in our cars buses ect? we are obviously not fussed but it is an important detail in organising participation. So that our activists know what to expect and be prepared:)
what "?"!
what "?"!
guy HOW MANY to arrive, this is the question here. this is a page to find possibilities for the students all around europe to COME to REACH lauvain at all...
so. what "?", hm?
apx i suppose you are
apx i suppose you are referring to my post, but i dont understand what mean... that (?) mark was just to indicate that i had a question to ask, which i did... and i didnt mean any special arrangements or else, i just wanted to know what are the arrangements once we get there, because we are promoting this within our own organisations and to other institutions, so we are more than likely to attend. anyway, forget about what i asked, we will make our own arrangements!
h hi ok it´s apk and...
its apk not apx but i not care so much for this as long as the page develops a bit further which i have no reason to statue so far:
again
this underpage - was - also - planned - to - make it possible for the students - to get in contact - with students - who - already - had the chance - to organize - transport item.

Organization- countersummit
Hi everybody!
We are part of the students movement organized in assemblies all over
the spanish state. We write you from Madrid, "ciencias de la
información" faculty, Universidad complutense. Some of us will be
going to Louvain to the countersummit, to protest against the bologna
process and the mercantilization of education.
We have read the proposal of countersummit from vague eu people, and
think we could start working and organizing from that. Still, we have
to know if we have some place to stay overnight together or not, and
where to meet. there's a lot of work to do. We could do so by using
the ways proposed by vague eu students; and many be could meet in an
irc chat next sunday 5th april -all of us- to discuss it a bit.
See you soon!
Saludos desde Madrid
organization
Hello,
we wrote a new call, with a planning, here : http://www.vagueeuropeenne.fr/spip.php?article111&lang=en
We try to find groups or universities who want to organize bus trip to Brussels or Louvain. Some bus are already planned from Paris and Lyon. Some of us will go to Strasbourg for the NATO counter summit, if you'll go there, you could meet us.
Say us if you could organize a Louvain comity in your town. Thanks,
