in germany we have the "meetings of network" which you could call
"the" student movement in germany. started in 2005 it fought a lot
against study-fees in half of the country (berlin, hamburg, hessen,
nrw, baden würtemberg, niedersachsen...)
in 2006 it went very big and strong - so the victory in hessen was gathered.
after 2006 it went to protest against the g8-summit and still tries to get protest together.
the
network yet seems to had his big times, as in the last meetings were
not so many groups anymore as they were in the past - but a reason for
that could be that the topic "study fees" is not THE topic anymore in
germany.
well, still they are organising some protests and decided in their last meeting to also take action on the global action day.
maybe this could be a revival for the network?
another
left-winged network is the "networking organisation" which seperated
from the "meetings of network" because they wanted to discuss more
about education-topics and educational systems - where the "meetings of
network" focused more on actions...
both are basic-democratic networks without hierarchy and partly a tendency to anarkism.
