Twitter or Indy?

hello there, in the last round-mail you could read:

Communication structure during the Global Week of Action:

a.. So far it seems that using "Twitter" is a good option. Any objections?
a.. A "live ticker" on the main Indymedia page (indymedia.org) was another idea. Anybody knows how to arrange
something like that? A "live ticker" is a page where short messages regarding the global week of action from around the world would be listed and constantly updated regarding the latest developments during a certain protest. I guess "Twitter" is something similar.
a.. Another suggestion was to use different channel on Indymedia IRC, something like #education-rumours (for unconfirmed news); #education-news (for confirmed news); #education-translation (for news and rumours to be translated); #minute-by-minute (for a constant coverage of "special events")... and so on. Since such a technique is easy to use for all.
a.. Each group should post updates regarding their local protests inside the forums (http://www.emancipating-education-for-all.org/forum/17) as soon as possible!! So that activists elsewhere will know and can spread the word! And each group has the opportunity to print
out a page each day informing others about what happened the previous day around the world!!
    That's it for now!
Questions? Suggestions? Drop me a line!

"Suggestions?"

yes i do have one. why not discuss this online?

first: we have to take care not to overwhelm neither us nor new joining people with too many used media and networked places, at least i have to admit, that i´m slowly loosing the overview.

but - we will of course need a working, functioning reliable ticker-medium, and - even if i am really NOT a fan of twitter and will NEVER BE a fan of twitter ( I have my reasons) i think i vote for twitter in spite of this.

i think it will be easier to organize this, it will be less dependent of "contact persons" to indy-pips, i´m somehow not sure if such a dependence is what we could feel good with.

what do the others say?

i installed a doodle-voting place where you easily can click your choice:

http://www.doodle.com/participation.html?pollId=z598kini63rwq4ft (please use your emancipating-education-for-all-registration-nick or -initials for the voting.)

( MO?! WHAT`S UP IT`S JUST A CLICK, WHAT`S WRONG? IF YOU DO NOT VOTE FOR ANY OF THOSE YET BECAUSE YOU DID NOT MAKE YOUR DECISION UP NOW, CHOOSE BOTH.) (to the other readers: do not worry about these lines. registered users can see the other registered users online, that´s why some textes for a short period of time look funny sometimes, do not care too much about this.)

------------

(only for mo: mo? i installed a test-voting place where activists could type in whether or not they can bestätigen ihre teilnahme für 16-18h. it´s on http://www.doodle.com/zwp5vkdzkwcf2s34 ) maybe that´s a good idea for questions like this. of course, links there then would have to be placed in a) FB, b) here on the page in a short new forum entry with a speaking title, c) maybe also in round mails etc. - and, of course, it´s just a test. the real one dealing with online meetings would have to be installed by yourself, choosing the time zone description the global group is used to.

up!

mo! brilliant "transport" page, it´s linked already but where is your voting? :]

I am not sure yet.

I know too little about the pros and cons.
So I will vote later :)

alright, read the mail first, then decide.

until then, visitors of this page may want to takt a look at a first twitter-channel, freshly installed.

the channel is shared.(mo? you´ve got the login-data in your mailbox. please be carefully who you share this with, but do share also if needed)

the ticker-channel on twitter

startet at SAT, 14th, 2009 early morning, let´s see how it will develop.
