UPDATED: "Day of united Action" during the "Global Week of Action '09"
"Day of united Actions" and "Global flashmob"
During one of our "international chat-conference" we agreed that it is a good idea to have a "Day of united Action" during the "Reclaim your Education - Global Week of Action" itself.
We agreed on April 22nd to be that day of united action.
Furthermore we discussed what kind of "united action" could be arranged and came up with the following idea:
Groups around the world can mobilize for a flashmob at some prominant place (on April 22nd) in their region. Each flashmob will then be filmed and we can put a video together with all the flashmobs showing similar scenes around the world.
The flashmob involves a book for which we have a cover design now. All groups are asked to print out that design, which symbolizes free public education, and used it as a book cover holding it inside the camera.
Now we have the following concept for the flashmob:
The group responsible for the first scenario on the final video...:
- ...begins the clip with a student holding the book cover into the camera;
- the book is being snapped away by one person (or two, or three) dressed in "business suits" (symbolises business and profit interests);
- the people (or person) dressed in "business suits" run away with the book in their hands;
- (all this takes place in some public space and activists were mobilized to that space beforehand) so now the activists who gathered at that place chase the people who stole the book(!), more and more people begin to run after those "business people" (holding banners, posters and signs against the commercialisation of education);
- IMPORTANT: in the last scene the "business people" hold the book outside of the screen!!
The groups doing the next scenarios (middle scene) need to film the following in their flashmob:
- one activist dressed in a "business suit" holds the book outside and then moves it inside the screen (as if the book was being given to him/her by the "business people" in the previous scene!);
- then the "business people" (or the single person in a "business suit") are being chased by students (with banners and signs);
- IMPORTANT: in the last scene the "business people" hold the book outside of the screen!!
The group doing the final scenario need to film the following in their flashmob:
- one activist dressed in a "business suit" holds the book outside and then moves it inside the screen (as if the book was being given to him/her by the "business people" in the previous scene!);
- a smaller mob of "business people" holds the book and is being chased by students once again;
- in the end the "business people" will reach some sort of destination where they will tear away the cover of the book and the camera will film the new cover below, which shows $, €, ¥, £ - signs (or something similar)!
We, the group in Marburg (Germany) will do the final scenario for the "global flashmob".
Activists in Copenhagen (Denmark) agreed to do the first scene!
Therefore all the other groups please focus on the middle part! :)

imagine, we would talk about germany and, let´s say, berlin as an example. based on the fact that the week was planned for 20.-27. april (and now even from 20.-29.4., as I hear from FB), i´d propose
a) 26th or
b) 29th
of april.
based on the fact, that e.g. even the terminkalender of the fu sais, referring to the summer semester: "01.04.-30.09.2009" as semester full time and "Vorlesungszeit 14.04.-18.07.2009" as the time when students are in the university - somehow important fact, when you think about the chances you have to inform them in time bout a special date, inform abour reasons, aims... spread some flyers... (well ok, for the "mobilization". i somehow can´t get used to this word, even though i remember this enze text dealing with peoples' prejudice against this term - somehow still i prefer describing, but ok, for the "mobilization".)
why.
a) 26th - it´s a sunday. it could be p e r f e c t to get also those students interested who are fresh in their studies, like them (their studies) even while also interested in this movement. feeling... unsure what to do maybe because they are bachelor students and their week is full and knowing, it will be not easy joining a flashmob in the middle of the week.
why this.
of course, for "skilled" student activists "with a lot of experience and practice" such thoughts are boring and stupid. but ey, they exist. and ey! for some years now the students we get to our university are bachelor-only. we should think about this delicate fact, also.
and
the students will have time to loose one or another course while getting more interested and joining bildungsstreik only 6 weeks later. why make it harder for them to join a flashmob in april then, when we and they know they will loose a full course when being missed in more then two courses hours (which means one semester longer each time, this is bachelor strategy, and what if they do not know if they have the money for the semester extra) . so why not a sunday.

proposal b) - it´s not a sunday.
why.
if too many people believe sundays are holy even for students activists, i would have no chance to discuss and would then vote for a day with chances for a compromise, the last day of the week of action might be the best then.
where.
a) alexanderplatz [lot of funny stuff happens there, why not again.]
b) zoo [seldom funny stuff happens there, why not this time. it´s in the middle of city´s western part of. a lot of surprised faces to take a foto of and media like pictures with gedächtniskirche behind] [it was only an idea.] [btw.: very interesting huge street to block there...]
c) pragmatically seen: maybe the most fitting place would be the humbold-uni-area, again. why: also city´s center, also very nice street for the same aim... nearer to the building connected to the movement's aims itself.
in berlin it´s not difficult to propose a hundred possible places in a short time, but maybe this first proposals will do.
hello reader: are you from berlin? which one would you like to be the flashmob-place? having another, own proposal? then post it, i´d like to read it like the others do, too.

edit: by the way - there is a tv-st-smash-action-proposal somewhere on wikibildung. and yes, reminding this, I think I´d have fun smashing a tv-set in such an action. if no one develops interest, maybe ok another time. but if accidently there are more people having slight critique on mass media to voice (mass media and eg representation of students` protest in them - so far -) - i´d like such an option. and in berlin a lot of tv-sets are standing on the streets, people buy new and new all the time. so - material to smash and BUMM would be enough there.

i think we should have these days for the united action day.. because they are the BOlogna summit days... and those who cannot attend the demos in Belgium can do action locally/nationally whilst others are demonstrating in belgium... i think this will bring the biggest impact...
which date now?
could we get an update, which date right now is planned for the global flashmob? is there a page anywhere (on facebook or where-ever) informing about the day right now?????? or it it the 22th (mentioned in teh text now)) and if yes, where to search for the details, where to search for some information, which groups take part in it now????

(by the way: the "scenarios" are really ok, well-developped! applause to the author(s)! - i´d propose first scenario with a direct cut to last scenario as a short version.)
United Action!
Reclaim Your Education, Danish student movement!
Does anyone know about Belgian students who could be included in the collective actions during the 28-29 i Louvain, Löwen!!?
Otherwise, shouldn't we try to do some planning of collective actions, all of us who are already involved in this Forum? How about coordinate a grand flash mob during the minesterial meeting in louvain?
Just suggestions, but let's make an effort to start planning collective actions, while still suggesting local actions! We have not yet confirmed with our group of Actions that we will be able to execute a global falshmob in copenhagen the 22nd! But this will be discussed the march the 24th, and then we will ad our final decision here!

Our group is meeting on the 27th of March - I'll suggest the 22nd of April for the global flash mob and after the meeting I'll confirm the date here.

Global Flashmob!
Speaking on behalf of the Danish Student movement of Reclaim Your Education, I would like to announce that we are also planning a Global Flashmob in front of the Central administration of Copenhagen University, and that we also suggest the 22nd of april as day of collective actions! What is more, we are also planning to occupy the central administration an announce the opening of a free university, rejecting the Reform of 2003, a reform which basically sums up the essentials of the bologna-declaration! More information on this event will be added on site regularly!
Anyway, the day is the 22nd, and we are planning to mobilize people around two o'clock! We don't now wether the exact timing will have anything to do with the further planning of flashmobs on the international basis? However, if i get it right, we only need to know who will start and who's supposed to end the flashmob, am I correct? So if the poles will do the last who's to start?
We suggest that we get as many cameras as possible to cover the event in order to make it the most "action-packed" as possible? Furthermore we could send the different clips(shootings) to a given internetportal, so they could be put together, pherhaps in time to be shown at the demonstration in Loeven the following 28th-29th?

So after March 27 we will know, if the Poles will make the first scene and we, in Marburg (Germany), will do the final scene.

Personally I don't think it is necessary to agree on a particular time internationally for the flashmob. I think it is even alright, if groups decide to do their flashmob on a different day during the global week of action, if they can't make it on April 22.
Uploading the files is a good idea.
So far we have an account on archive.org and youtube.
The files can be uploaded in top quality on archive.org and then again on youtube, so that everyone can watch them.
What do you think? Any suggestions?
global flash mob - Poland
There was so much going on and it took so much time to discuss different actions that the only decision concerning the global flash mob is to do it more “spontaneously” in Gdańsk. That is, it is possible that we will do the middle scenario if we get a bigger group of people together during the following weeks. So not the first scenario but maybe the middle (to be on the safe side). I'll be in touch :)
