Can we make June 9th a "Global Day of Action"?

Protests on June 9th 2010?

Each month education activists from across Germany gather at some university to network, discuss and co-ordinate future protests together.

During the last meeting in Bielefeld it was decided to aim at June 9th to kick off a new wave of protests - at least on a national level - with de-central demonstrations across the country.

At the same time most people also agreed, that it would be great, if groups and movements in other parts of the world were to unite in protest together with the movement in Germany in order to spread awareness, that this is a global struggle and in no way limited to Germany!

The same movement [in Germany known as "Bildungsstreik"] was behind the wave of actions in June 2009 and occupations at about 60 educational institutions during November 2009.
Unlike at many other places university students and pupils are protesting together - fortunately; because the problems within public education are fundamental and by no means limited to universities. They are deeply rooted within society as a whole.

I am really hoping that many groups around the world will consider to co-ordinate actions together with the movement in Germany on June 9th. This can help to improve networking on a global level for the future [especially November 2010 ;)].

We can mention each others planned actions in press-releases, have video-conferences, support each other in case of police repression, send each other video messages and use the same slogans on banners.

Just leave a comment below or send a mail to: united.for.education[at]gmail.com, if you are keen to co-ordinate something together.

We are all in this together.

~ one world - one struggle ~

sure, why not, good idea

sure, since - as you mentioned - actually june 9th 2010 is officially accepted already as next at least germanywide educational manifestation action day (Bildungsstreik Bundesweite Demo) -> see http://twitter.com/bildungsstreik/statuses/8747258606 (aha, decided in Bielefeld?) - why not turning it to an europeanwide and even worldwide one. after all - date exists already, would be easier to organize somehow, that's what I think. what do the others say? any objections? where and why?
