November 17th 2010
"Global Day of Action"

: : : : Reports, pictures and videos are now online !!! : : : :

November 17th marks the "International Students' Day". Details on the history behind that day check out wikipedia, International Union of Students and/or youtube.

November 17th will also be a highlight of the "Global Wave of Action for Education", which kicked off on October 7th and already saw massive protests for free education in Austria, Italy, the Ukraine and U.S.A. among others.
The international "joint statement", which is the result of monthslong discussions, is the basis for united protests for that day, just like it is the basis for the "Global Wave" as a whole.

Display the "united symbol" to communicate internationally, that you understand your action as part of the "Global Wave":

Let's create an overview of all the protests currently being planned around the world on November 17th, which are linked to the "Global Wave of Action for Education"!

If you don't have the resources to arrange an action on that day, then recording a "video message" for education activists worldwide might be an option for you as well.

"global flashmob" idea

I received the following idea by mail:

hi Mo

i'm so sorry i can't help more at the moment .( but perhaps you can make use of this little idea...
if theres still no concept for the wave video i would suggest a dance combining 3 little elements

freestyle - showing we are all individuals and have all a unique way of seeing the world ,)

together as group (holding hands recommended) - showing that all who come together work together
                                                                                      and strengthening the local groups

wave move (la-ola) - showing that the whole is more than the sum of its parts, and we are all on this planet together

best wishes to you and all
Toni

What do you think? Comments?

New idea

I like the hand raising idea or freestyle and put that together with maybe a student protest cheer!

Ready to roll

Wow, there seems to be a lot of protests scheduled and ready to go. I am looking forward to the recaps that you provide and I hope that it all goes according to your plan that people are peaceful.
