HOW TO COME TO BOCHUM / RUHR-UNIVERSITÄT

By Plane:

TO DUSSELDORF (DUS)

The easiest way is to fly to DUSSELDORF(DUS)(about 50km away from Bochum), taking the SkyTrain to the airport station and take a local Train (it's called "RegionalExpress" / Lines RE1 or RE6 Direction "HAMM or MINDEN" ) to Bochum Hbf (Bochum Main Station). Then follow the "by train" instructions.
The ticket you need for this is called "Preisstufe D" and costs you 10,90 €. But there are group tickets available as well. Please take care by buying your tickets: To have no or the wrong train ticket is a crime in Germany and you will have to pay a fee of 40,00 € to the railway organisation and, and this is new until the 1st of january 2010, the will bring you to the judge as well.

other airports

It is also possible to fly to DORTMUND(DTM) (about 30 km away from Bochum, but not reachable by train), DUSSELDORF/NIEDERRHEIN (NRN) (about 80 km from Bochum, reachable by train, but you have to change the line twice (Taking a train from "Weeze" to "Krefeld" next Train from "Krefeld" to "Duisburg" and then from "Duisburg" to "Bochum") or to COLOGNE/BONN (CGN) (aprox. 90 km, take a local Train (called "S-Bahn" to "Köln Messe/Deutz" then interchange to "RE 1 - direction "HAMM" to Bochum Main Station)

All above sounds really complicated and in a way it is so do not hestitate to contact us if you have any problems.

By Train

Take a Train to Bochum Hauptbahnhof (Main Station), take the U35 towards Bochum Querenburg (Hustadt) and get out at stop "Ruhr-Universität". (Ticket needed: Preisstufe A).
The subway U35 departs quite often (aprox. at the weekend every 10 minutes) and reaches the university within 9 minutes. If you are trying to find a timetable, it it publish at www.vrr.de

By Car / Coach

Motorway A 43, interchange "Bochum-Witten", exit at "Bochum-Querenburg/Universität" (exit no. 19). Universitätsstraße direction Universität/ Zentrum, exit at "Uni - Mitte" (about 2 km).

At University

You have to find the buildung "GA". But this is marked on the map and there will be signs on the campus.
