More than 2000 students joined a protest at the University of Kelaniya in Sri Lanka against the increasing privatisation of education and budget cuts for higher education.

Thousands of students and pupils joined a countrywide walk-out as part of a National Day of Action for Education on the Philippines. The day of action was directed against budget cuts, increasing tuition fees and the privatisation of public education.
