PS: of course this will be the heartplace. but wikipage develops quite fine as a sampling place for further informations, allowing 'newbies' (e.g. active activists, but fresh in this network) to join faster (and even real newbies. you never know, how much networking and cooperation potential fresh angry students :]  - and future-students - can develop.).

Im Anschluß an den im November stattgefundenen Aktionstag der Internationalen Studentenbewegung (5. November 2008) haben Studenten aus Ländern der Welt eine Aktionswoche ausgerufen. (begründung der änderung in: korrektur934759034523908)

Während dieser Woche (20.-27. April) schließen sich Studenten, Lehrer und Einwohner weltweit zusammen, um die Bildung von der Kommerzialisierungs- und neoliberalen Politik zurückzufordern. (klingt zunächst "komisch" oder "gewöhnungsbedürftig", aber evtl. akzeptabel.) <-- eigentl. besser: um die bildung vom zugriff der kommerzialisierung und neoliberaler politik zu befreien.

Einige Gruppen werden in den Straßen protestieren, andere werden sich auf Aktionen auf ihrem Campus konzentrieren.
Aber wir alle werden für dasselbe Ziel kämpfen - eine Bildung für Alle.
One world - One struggle, Bildung steht nicht zum Verkauf.
Wir lassen soziale Selektion in der - oder auch durch die - Bildung nicht zu.

W ramach Dnia Akcji przeciw neoliberalizacji w systemie krztalcenia miédzynarodowego Ruchu Studenckiego (5.ego listopada 2008), studenci z wielu krajów naszego globu oglosili tydzien akcji jako następny krok:

W czasie tego tygodnia (20.-27. kwietnia 2009) studenci, nauczyciele i meszkancy na calym świecie łácza sié, aby wywolnić system krztałcenia od komercjalizacji i neoliberalnej polityki.

Niektóre grupy będá protestować na ulicach, inne będá koncentrować się na akjach na campusach, ale my wszyscy będziemy walczyć o ten sam cel - wykrzałcenie dla wszystkich! [wiedza dla wszystkich!] One World - One Struggle (Wspóly świat - wspólny problem - wspólna walka), Education is NOT for Sale!" (edukacja nie jest na sprzedaż)
Nie zgadzamy sié na socjialną segregację w edudacji.

Constitutive on the
"International Day of Action against the Commercialization of Education" on
Nov.5^th 2008, the International Students Movement is calling for a
Global Week of Action in April 2009 (20/04 – 27/04).

We are a loose network of
various progressive (student) groups from close to 30 countries on 5
continents. What unites us is the struggle against the increasing
commercialization of education and for emancipating public education accessible
to all members of society.

More and more groups
realize that forces responsible for this development – the privatisation and
commodification of education (like many other aspects of life) – function
globally. And we can only effectively counter them, if we unite in our
struggle.

Students, teachers, workers
and parents around the world ask themselves: Is the public education system
actually still serving the interests of the public, or is the focus shifting to
implement education systems that primarily serve private and business
interests? Tuition fees are – once introduced – sky-rocketing, universities and
schools are turned into businesses, student debt keeps increasing and
education budgets cut. Institutions of higher education become highly dependant
on their ability to attract sponsorships (usually from economic actors).
Consequently only those institutions and departments are able to survive, that
are deemed valuable by sponsors.

Public education systems, from kindergarten to
university, must prioritize emancipating aspects, be free and
accessible to all. A democracy only exists, if society consists of
emancipated and self-determined individuals, that are able to
critically reflect their (social) environment, developments and power
structures. Any system, that doesn’t fulfill these criteria is not a
democracy.

The fact, that groups in
more than 20 countries on 5 continents joined the international day of action
in November show how international this struggle is.
During the week of April 20-27 active citizens around the word are uniting to
reclaim education from the grip of commercialization and so-called "neoliberal
policies".

It is up to each group how
and for how many days they want to express their protest. It can be a smaller
or bigger action. But it is important that we co-ordinate this together.
Therefore please get in touch with us, once you decided to arrange something
for the Global Week of Action.

In Fortsetzung des Internationalen Aktionstags gegen die Kommerzialisierung der Bildung am 5. November 2008 ruft die Internationale Studentenbewegung eine Globale Aktionswoche für den 20.-27. April 2009 aus.

Wir sind ein loses Netzwerk verschiedener Studentengruppen aus annähernd 30 Ländern auf 5 Kontinenten. Was uns verbindet, ist der Kampf gegen wachsende Kommerzialisierung der Bildung und für eine schrankenlose emanzipatorische Bildung, die allen Mitgliedern der Gesellschaft zugänglich zu sein hat.

Mehr und mehr Gruppen erkennen, daß die treibenden Kräfte, die für die Privatisierung und Kommodifizierung der Bildung wie vieler anderer Aspekte im Leben (sozialer Austausch, Kulturgüter, gesellschaftliches Engagement) global funktionieren. Und wir können ihnen nur effektiv begegnen, wenn wir uns in unserem Kampf verbünden.

Studenten, Lehrer, Arbeiter und Eltern auf der ganzen Welt fragen sich: orientiert sich das öffentliche Bildungssystem noch an den Interessen und Bedürfnissen der Öffentlichkeit, oder werden wir Zeugen der Implementierung eines Bildungssystems, das primär privatwirtschafts- militärischen Interessen dient?

Wie soll ich je diese Studiengebühren bezahlen, die sich anhäufenden Kredite abzahlen können?

Wie hoch werden die Gebühren noch steigen?

Studiengebühren schießen - einmal eingeführt - schnell zum Himmel empor, Universitäten und Schulen wechseln ihr Gesicht und wandeln sich zu Firmen, die Verschuldung der Studenten wächst und die staatlichen Budgets für die Bildung sinken, im Gegensatz zu den Rüstungs- und Sicherheitsetats.

Institutionen der höheren Bildng werden abhängig gemacht von ihrer Fähigkeit, Sponsoren anzuziehen (meist von privawirtschaftlichen, aber in zunehmender Anzahl auch von staatlichen bildungsfernen kostenintensiven Institutionen wie der Militärwirtschaft, s. military studies in Potsdam und der SonderForschungsBereich 700 an einer Berliner Eliteuniversität).

In direkter Folge können nur diese Institutionen (Institute und Fachbereiche) überleben, die von Sponsoren als "zukunftsträchtig" und "fortschrifttlich" eingeschätzt wurden.

Gesellschaftliche Bildungssysteme, vom Kindergarten bis zur Universität, müssen emanzipatorischen Aspekten Priorität zuordnen und zugänglich werden für jedermann.

Demokratie existiert nur, wenn die Gesellschaft aus emanzipierten und selbstbestimmten Individuen besteht, die in der Lage sind, kritisch die soziales Umfeld und die Entwicklung sowie Kräfteverhältnisse der Gesellschaft zu reflektieren.

Ein System, das diese Kriterien nicht erfüllt, ist keine Demokratie.

Die Tatsache, daß Gruppen in mehr als 20 Ländern auf 5 Kontinenten dem internationalen Aktionstag im November beigetreten sind zeigt, wie international dieser Kampf ist.

Während der Woche zwischen dem 20. und dem 27. April werden sich aktive Einwohner der ganzen Welt verbünden, um die Bildung um die Bildung von der Kommerzialisierung und neoliberaler Politik zurückzufordern.

Es hängt von jeder Gruppe selbst ab, wie und an wievielen Tagen sie sich am weltweiten Protest beteiligen und mit welchen Formen genau sie ihrem Protest ausdruck verleihen wollen. Dies kann als kleinere (oder fettere) oder größere Aktion geplant werden. Aber es ist wichtig, das zusammen zu koordinieren. Setzt euch bitte mit uns in Verbindung, sobald ihr euch entschlossen habt, etwas während der Globalen Aktionswoche auf die Beine zu stellen.

Maybe it is not the right time to translate the Call yet.

We agreed to collect suggestions first and discuss them here in the forum.
It is great that you try to spread the idea about the Global Week of Action already. But maybe we should wait until the end of our next chat-conference, until we really start to spread the Call in all the different languages on the net, so that others also have the opportunity to comment  :)

My proposal is focussing more in the global perspective, whereas Lisa's version of the Call focusses more on the indiviual perspective and tuition fees as the problem.
