WANTED: Cheap laptop for Liberia

An NGO called "Youth for Community Academic and Development Services" (YoCADS) in Monrovia (Liberia), which also mobilized for the "International Day of Action against the Commercialisation of Education" (see summary of protests here), is asking for support!

They need a laptop or notebook, so that they can access the internet whenever they want and don't always need to pay for the services at an internet cafe.

If anybody knows somebody who would cheaply give away a "second-hand" laptop or where to get one online, then please contact Alphonso directly (alphonso_weah[at]yahoo.com) or leave a message below.

If you search for YoCADS on the internet you will find various entries. They are also involved with UN campaigns, such as STAND UP & TAKE ACTION!
YoCADS is also partnering with an NGO in Switzerland: CooperaXion.Org
A few more details regarding YoCADS can be accessed here.

You will also find his request quoted below.

Dear Mo,

Thanks for the information you have send us. As you may be aware, my problem have been with the lack of a laptop computer. This could actually help me because to access internet facility on Sunday in my Country is a bit difficulty if you do not have your own laptop.

Therefore, we appeal to you and other colelagues to help us (YOCADS) with a used laptop as you did during the campaign in on Nov. 5, 2008 with a used Camera. With this our work is going to be enhanced for the forthcoming program that is the Week of Action in April 2009 and other activities programs.

Thanks, wish to hear from you.
