I. About the Transnational Student Congress

The idea of the TSC came first when students in Germany got in contact with student activists at Misr International University (MIU) in Cairo, in order to organize an exchange program. But as the Orga-team grew, the idea got bigger, and it was decided to organize a transnational student congress instead.
The TSC will be a place for students involved in emancipatory struggles. Accordingly we will tackle issues like equal access to education, women empowerment, student empowerment and gender equality. In addition to these we’ll also grant topics like democracy and the transformations in the MENA region a closer look. Above all this congress will enable us to create a broader network for a better understanding and future coordinations.
So if you’re interested in the above mentioned and can relate to these struggles, we are inviting you to participate in the TSC that will be held in the little town of Marburg (Germany) starting October 28th till November 3rd.
For more details on the TSC check out: http://transnationalstudentcongress.wordpress.com

II. Register as soon as possible!

To support the orga collective on the ground we ask you to fill out the registration form as soon as possible: transnationalstudentcongress.wordpress.com/registration

Participants in need of reimbursements for their travel expenditures or an invitation letter for the visa have to register  before August 15th.

The program of the TSC depends on contributions by participants. Therefore all are asked to initiate workshops, rounds of discussion, presentations, etc. related to emancipatory struggles. Please send us a description of your contribution by October 15th to have it included in the congress guide.

Preparatory meetings:
The next meeting to prepare the TSC on the ground takes place on Thursday the 18th of July (6pm) at the general students' committee (AStA) Marburg.

III. Call for Support

The general students' committee (AStA) at the University of Marburg agreed to cover the costs on the ground (food, rental for a small sports hall, public transport, etc.).
In some regions students have no financial means and no access to structures which would support them financially. Therefore they highly depend on the solidarity from other parts of the world. Consequently the success of the Transnational Student Congress also depends on donations from other groups and organisations.
We have a list of people that registered so far, but whose participation depends on financial support to cover travel expenses.
If your student union or other organisation supports the TSC, please consider to donate to the account of the general student committee at the University of Marburg: transnationalstudentcongress.wordpress.com/donations

You can also support the TSC by purchasing a flight for a participant on account. And we can also send you a donation receipt.
