University of New Mexico: October 7th National Day of Action to Defend Public Education Teach in and Press Conference

UNM Faculty, Part Time Instructors, TAs—anyone concerned with the future of Public Education:

JOIN THE OCTOBER 7TH NATIONAL DAY OF ACTION TO DEFEND PUBLIC EDUCATION with a TEACH-IN &PRESS CONFERENCE: On October 7th people all over the country are taking action in response to the massive cuts to, and rapid privatization of public education. UNM G.E.T (Graduate Employees Together) joins a national coalition (http://www.defendeducation.org/) in calling for action to reverse this destructive flow that strips away rights of teachers and students and severely restricts access to public education! The budget cuts at UNM are proposed as being “across the board”, which means that those who are the lowest paid and the most vulnerable—graduate student employees and part time faculty—will be disproportionately affected. This is unjust exploitation of academic labor and we will not stand for it! We will stand together to defend public education and the core mission of UNM!

THE PRESS CONFERNECE:
