Sit-in Against Closure of School

Students from the Katherine Ferguson Academy want their school to stay open.

Students and teachers of Detroit Public Schools' Catherine Ferguson Academy (CFA) as well as parents began a sit-in Friday, April 15th, 2011 in response to news that their school has been slated for closure. CFA, an educational facility for young mothers, is one of four of this model in the entire U.S. of A. The community mobilized rather quickly and bore witness to the arrests and removals of the women from the school grounds.

The protest was initiated by the Coalition to Defend Affirmative Action, Integration, and Immigration Rights and Fight for Equality By Any Means Necessary (BAMN)

Closing schools is so not the

Closing schools is so not the answer to all these problems. I just feel there has to be a better way. How can we be so selfish to take our schools away from our children and worse yet, their teachers.
