Coordinating November 17th together

During the chat meeting on Oct.6th the following idea was considered for an internationally united action as part of the "Global Wave" on Nov.17th. For those of you who don't know: November 17th marks the "International Students' Day".

"We can call on groups worldwide to stage a "la Ola" wave (as you know them from football stadiums, just probably on a smaller scale - it can be with 5 or 10,000 people) in front of any educational institution (for example the university/college/school main entrance) or some famous sights (e.g. market place, touristic symbol, landscape, city centre)!
Any other wave-like move or dance would do fine as well.
All this would happens on Nov.17th at 4pm (local time) around the world. So people in Australia or New Zealand might start, others in Asia would continue, then groups in Africa and Europe have their turn and finishing with people in South-, Central- and NorthAmerica.

Each "la Ola" should be recorded on video! Then each group uploads it somewhere (where it can also be downloaded again) and posts the link inside the forum or sends it to
In the end we can put all the clips together into one video showing the wave going around the world!

Leave a comment inside the forum what you think about this idea. Also let everyone know, if you can imagine to do something like this locally. People could just do this as part of a flashmob, before going to cinema with some friends or right after school. It is actually very each for everyone to do (as long as you have a video camera, if you don't then photos would do as well!) and can leave a great impact for months and maybe even years to come.
BUT we all need to work on this together, that's the great challenge.

The final result could look something like this:

Post comments, ideas, criticism or alternative suggestions for November 17th below or send it to the address above and it will be posted here (for those who have problems signing up to the website).

We should have a decision on this by October 20th (wednesday), so that there is still enough time to get the word out! Want to join the next chat meeting to discuss this idea and consider alternative suggestions? Here is the link to determine time and date.
