April 7th:
Youth in Spain Protesting Cuts & Precariousness
April 7th marked the first day of action of the new precarious and student movement, Juventud Sin Futuro ("Youth without a future"). More than 3,000 people took to the streets in Madrid against social cuts and the precarious situation of the youth. Other actions were organised across the country in an event that looks like the begining of a big social movement.
The main slogans during the demonstration were:
"What happened, that we have no home?"
"We are not going to pay for your crisis"
"Here is the precarious Youth"
"A, Anti, Anticapitalista"
Following the main demonstration hundreds of people attempted to block the main avenue "Paseo del Prado" by building barricades. Shortly after the police attacked the protesters - at least 13 people were arrested, some were injured.
Activists involved in the coordination of this action confirmed this to be linked to the "Spring of Resistance".
