March 4th - Philippines:
Students stage Sit-ins at
Commission on Higher Education

Following a call by the League of Filipino Students (LFS) hundreds of students staged sit-ins at various regional Commissions on Higher Education departments (CHEd), among others in Quezon City and Southern Mindanao.

Why? Hikes in tuition fees were announced for the next academic year at schools across the country. At the same time public universities are facing further budget cuts. The same symptoms of the capitalist system, that can be observed around the world.
LFS announced this protest as part of the Spring of Resistance.
