Politics of voice, politics of exit and quest for autonomous education

on the example of student protest movements against university reforms in Europe and in the world

The aim of the meeting is to introduce actions of the International Student Movement (ISM) and the international collective - EduFactory opening Knowledge Liberation Front. And to reflect on contemporary university movements, both their specific character and the features of educational systems in which they function now, or in which they do not function at all. These issues become essential as new reforms of higher education in Poland and Europe are being implemented. Discussion about university movements can become a starting point to a broader analysis of contemporary social movements. This perspective gains importance especially when one takes into account local contexts of University of Gdansk, that is Gdansk being so called “cradle” of “Solidarity” movement. We hope that this meeting will make ongoing actions of resistance organized by international student movements (Spring of Resistance [SoR]) easier to understand.
