March 16th:
Victoria - Rally against Fees and Student Debt

About 1,200 students from across the west coast of Canada came together in Victoria to protest fees, students debt, interest rates and other symptoms linked the increasing privatisation of education.

The protest was organised by the Simon Fraser Student Society, Camosun Student Society and the University of Victoria Student Society.

The protesters called for student grants, lower tuition fees, more funding for post-secondary education and the elimination of interest on student debt.

While protesters expressed anger at the policies, the overall atmosphere was festive, energized and inspiring.  Students were visibly thrilled to part of such a strong show of solidarity involving so many people from so many different schools.

According to organisers and at least one of the banners ;) this rally was also linked to the "Spring of Resistance".
