Video message dedicated to all people struggling for free emancipatory education around the world!

Hello World! We are a group of students, parents and teachers in Marburg (Germany).

Together we fight against the increasing privatisation of public education and for free emancipatory education for all.

On one hand we face rather new developments which we resist.

The de-democratisation of educational institutions and increasing selection within the education system, for example through various fees, are a great problem.

For instance general tuition fees were introduced in various federal states in 2005.

On other hand we try to question the structures, directions and actual functions of the education system.

Why do we actually have public education systems? Whose interests are actually reflected within them?

"Education for All!"

The uni belongs to everyone!

The introduction of tuition fees, but also the implementation of the "Bologna Process" triggered massive protests in many regions.

Fees were boycotted at various universities. City centres and highways were blocked, as well as lecture halls and classrooms squatted for weeks.

During the protests thousands of activists were detained.

Due to the massive resistance three federal states were forced to withdraw their decision to introduce general tuition fees.

We welcome the "Global Wave of Action for Education" initiative and understand our activities as part of it.

With great enthusiam we followed the latest protests in the U.S.A., Italy, the Ukraine, Austria and elsewhere.

The recent repression in Ireland dismays us, but we are with you side-by-side!

We are all in the same boat and want to encourage everyone out there to shape the "Global Wave" as well!

We stand in solidarity with everyone around the world struggling for free and emancipatory education.
